Fabulous teapot This is one of my favorite things!! My last one lasted about 10 years with constantuse. My 3 daughters now own one too. They all agree it is one of their favoritekitchen items.
Doesn't reliably turn off My kettle is about 2 years old and I have been very happy with it until recently. Now perhaps one time in 20 the kettle fails to shut off once the water has started to boil. I haven't waited long enough to see what happens when the kettle runs dry but this is a dangerous condition and could cause a fire So be warned.
Disappointing and dangerous We bought this kettle just under a year ago and were happy with it up until last week. Somehow the mechanism that should shut off the kettle when the water boils failed. This caused the kettle to boil dry AND melt the plastic bottom of the kettle rendering the unit unusable. This is also extremely dangerous and could have caused a fire and endangered everyone in the house. Needless to say we will not be purchasing another one of these kettles especially since it is expensive compared to other brands it does not seem to have a boil dry safety mechanism and it does not last very long. I will try to contact the company for a replacement since we have not even had it for 1 year yet but I am not willing to spend too much time arguing with the company. There is no way I can recommend this product.
I love this kettle. This was purchased for my boyfriend's mom. She claims its just a fabulous product but smells bad when melting on the stove top. Worth it to buy another one. She has gone through three of thesebecause guests make the mistake in placing it on the stove. This time is was my boyfriend. When we got home I almost placed our electric kettle on the stove but caught myself. I wish it weren't so easy to trash a $70 product. I love the electric kettle because it heats up water faster uses less energy and on a hot day it does not heat up your kitchen.
nice kettle but design flaw I really liked this kettle but discovered a design flaw when it fell off the counter and the handle just snapped off. And there is no way to fix it. I called Cuisinart and they said it could not be fixed and because it was more than 3 years since it was manufactured though I've had it for less than 2 years they would not replace. I have taken it to a kitchen repair shop hardware stores etc and no one can fix it.
5 years and still perfect We're very happy with this tea kettle. We've had it for 5 years it gets used everyday and it does what it's supposed to do.
Bad Design I bought two of these neither of them lasted very long. On one the copper pin bent on the second the copper circle around the pin bent and broke. Don't waste your money.
Great hardworking kettle if you keep bottom dry! This kettle was put in our Butler's pantry to prevent morning crosstraffic in the kitchen. It's design is sleek and quite attractive so that keeping it on the counter 24/7 is an option. As mentioned by other reviews the stainless steel interior is the best feature. This electric kettle is used 34 times a day in our home. However if you do not wipe the bottom of the kettle after filling with water and before placing it on the heating base you will over time have corrosion down inside the base causing the product to overheat and ultimately failing. My favorite engineer has verified this fact by means that I will not disclose! Yes he corrected the problem. Now we will all be mindful of wiping the stray water drops off the bottom before placing on the base.
The Hot Water Pot of Choice This is a great hot water pot one that our local library has had in service for several years so we decided to get one for ourselves. Simple and backed by the quality of Cuisinart.

Convenient cordless operation provides mobility.Cord storage in base; three-year limited warranty.Automatic shutoff ensures high level of safety.Sturdy stainless-steel construction.Hidden heating element means better tasting water. Great for a dorm room or office, this cordless kettle lets you enjoy tea, coffee, or even dried soups at any time and without a range. And it's detachable from its power base for convenient pouring. The unobtrusive power base shuts off when the kettle is removed from the platform, and the concealed heating element never comes into contact with the water, keeping it from tasting flat or scalded. Made from high-quality stainless steel, the mirror-finished kettle is attractive and rust-resistant, and its 36-inch cord can be hidden in the base, making for easy, cord-free storage.
