  • The best water on earth period. I LOVE my Water Wise countertop distiller. After all of the socalled water purifiers and filters I've bought over the years this one is clearly the winner in terms of every quality you could expect in a home water distilling device. It's easy to use well built it even looks good. But the best thing about it is of course the quality of the H2O it puts out and notice I say H2O not the overpriced municipal tap water that big companies simply filter then label Spring Water or those super expensive foreign mineral waters that not only taste terrible but don't provide any more quality nutrients to the body that a normal serving of vegetables which supply all the minerals you'll ever need. But the real test of any water is the TASTE. Last month I gave a glass of water distilled in my Water Wise to a close friend without telling him where the water came from. I was pleasantly surprised when he actually exclaimed Wow. This is the most delicious water I have ever tasted! I never knew that there was even such a dramatic difference until I got that unbiased opinion from my old friend. I enjoy using the distilled water for all my cooking and drinking purposes as well as my morning coffee or tea. I even use it in my fish tank never having to worry about the chlorine and other dangerous contaminants that are always present in city tap water and need to be conditioned before adding to your tank environment. Yes even my fish love it.I'll keep on using and recommending my Water Wise distiller for the rest of my life.P.S.
We depend on the Waterwise 8800 for pure greattasting distilled water Love this distiller and wouldn't want to be without it. For approximately 10 years it's been a very reliable workhorse providing us with 1 to 3 gallons a day of pure greattasting distilled waterno bad taste or bad odor.Problem There has been a problem only once and that was with a rubber gasket after quite a few years of daily use. Waterwise customer service apologized and explained that the old gasket was a design flaw that had since been fixed and they rushed a gasket free of charge. That was at least 4 or 5 years ago and no problems since.Maintenance After every use we clean the stainless steel kettle with a scrub brush or plastic scouring pad to remove most of the lime deposits. Approximately once a month we pour a gallon of white distilled vinegar sometimes apple cider vinegar into the kettle and allow it to soak for a few hours. It works like a charm at removing the lime.Plastic Carafe There's no mark on the carafe identifying the type of hard plastic. I do think Waterwise should make a glass carafe available especially for the price of the distiller. Most of the time we transfer the distilled water into glass pitchers but even when we've kept it in the plastic carafe there's never been a taste or smell of either plastic or stainless steel. Everyone is quite sensitive to taste and odor which was our reason for purchasing the Waterwise distiller.
Great water!! I received the Water Wise Distiller as a Christmas gift in 2010. I use it for drinking water cooking and the humidifier in my CPAP. I thought the water were I life was pretty good but I am amazed at what is left in the boiler every time I use it. I pour the contains of the pitcher into a second pitcher and my coffee maker water tank. That way I am ready to run another gallon thru the distiller as soon as I need it.I have not had any problems with my unit It is easy to clean.
Bought two years ago best Christmas present Two years ago I received the Waterwise 8800 for Christmas because it distills the fluoride which causes osteoporosisout of the water. The rest of the family loved the water so much that I often ran outcouldn't make it fast enough for all the weightlifters in the family. The main culprit 20yearold is going away to school next year so he asked for a Waterwise for Christmas. The spout design is a minor annoyance you must pull the springloaded spout cover back with your thumb or it spills but we minimize spillage by pouring it immediately into a BPAfree counter container with a spigot. Looks like the 9000 avoids that problem as you can just switch out the bottles.
don't last I bought mine a year ago and started noticing a burn mark on the base below the kettle six months later. Then the base start cracking. Weeks later the whole thing just stop working. I am lucky that the distiller broke down 2 wks before the warranty expired so I emailed them and shipped it back immediately. I have to say the costumer service is great. Two weeks after I shipped it to them I received a new one. They didn't explain to me what happened to my previous one but just sent me a brand new one. Sounds good right?! Now with this new one without any warranty I just hope it will last longer than the previous one. To most of you thinking about buying this you also need to consider if the oneyear warranty really can justify the cost. To me it's not worthy. It's cost me almost $90 to send it back. Even though I got a new replacement but if it break in a week I have nowhere to go. If it lasts for another year still too expensive to spend almost $500 for two years of good water. I will give my new replacement a try and hopefully I will return in 2 years and edit this review and give more stars.
Great Distiller I've had this distiller for almost 3 weeks now and love it. It's running almost nonstop as I didn't realize how much water my family of 5 uses per day. We use our RO water to fill the tank with and that cuts down on the amount of residue that we have to clean out. It's hard to go back to drinking the RO water as we're so used to the great tasting distilled water. The machine itself was a little bigger than I thought it would be and it does make a noticeable noise when it's on but we're all used to it now. My wife wanted me to put it in another room because of the hum it makes but she doesn't seem to mind it at all now. It seems to be a well made machine should last quite awhile. The charcoal filters are expensive to replace every 3ish months but they are not required. This is a great investment.
What every buyer needs to know about the Waterwise 8800
DOA My Dad and my Uncle have the Waterwise 9000. They have had minor expected problems and they do really like the 9000. I decided to get one also as I am a big fan of distilled water. I choose the 8800 as I did not like the small mouth of the collection jar in the 9000.I received the unit and followed the instruction to clean and fill it. I did not spill any water or overfill it.All looked good to go for the first cycle cleaning. I then plugged it in and set the clock. Everything looked good so I pressed the start button. At this point the fan came on the unit clicked and the clock stopped displaying half of it's segments. I watched it for a moment or two and decided to unplug and check the unit. After a visual checkout I plugged it back in. It is dead. Nothing showed on the display and it did not make any sounds. Pushing the buttons did not work.I tried different power outlets and I tried the a toaster and a microwave in these outlet. The toaster and microwave worked the 8800 did not.I am returning it as DOA.
Distiller This product makes water desireable! The best water we have ever tasted. I wish it was a little easier to clean though. The minerals build up in the kettle and are difficult to clean out. Not because of design just because they stick to the inside so badly. I'm sure all distillers have the same issue.
This is a pile of junk that makes great water I've had 3 8800's. All three died after a little over a year. The water this unit makes is great but the unit itself is a total pile of junk. The problem was the same for all three units. The kettle is the part of the unit in which you put the water. Under the kettle there are two plastic slide rails where you insert the kettle. Over time the plastic slide rails turn yellow from the kettle's heat. Eventually the plastic melts under the kettle so the under side looks like a pothole. Finally the unit stops working altogether. At 400 bucks a pop you'd think these things would last longer. The Waterwise people have a toughluckattitude about all this.We averaged about 3 gallons per day for our needs. While the specs say you can make up to 6 gallons a day the unit is really not suited for that because the heat melts the plastic of the unit and eventually makes it unusable. In reality you can make probably one gallon a day and would have no problem keeping the unit longer. At one gallon a day there are competitors who can provide alternatives for much much less. To say it is designed for 6 untis is true in the sense that it takes a gallon to complete in 4 hours but that level of use even 3 gallons a day simply is too much for this unit.It is a total piece of junk. I can tell you this. There is a competitor that makes a unit that makes water in the same amount of time for half the price and the water drips in a glass container and is made of stainless steel inside and plastic outside. Just google a bit and you'll find it. This is what I have now. After 3 8800's I would not recommend this unit in any way.
