  • pitiful amenic whistle This kettle does boil water but the whistle is weak and puny.I bought it because the earlier version was quite nice. This one isn't.I've asked WestBend for information to make it louder perhaps I received a flawed unit. If they don't answer this is going straight to the dustbin.Don't waste your money or your time.
West Bend electric tea kettle Exactly what I wanted my last one lasted over 10 years. I hope this one lasts that long also. Use it every day.
Open Box West Bend 6400 is a good product but I received an open box without the rubber feet on bottom of the kettle. Did not choose to return due to the inconvenience but I am disappointed with Amazon.
Can't see and reach inside pot to keep clean. Well we love it and we don't. We loved it for years but it's hard to clean and needs to be totally dry before putting away or otherwise one of these days you'll be in for a surprise of mold. Not a house mold problem but since it happened we are over zealous about leaving this put upside down in basket sink drainer to not just drain but also dry out. We have very hard water and that's probably adding to the situation. On occasion we take vinegar and other food safe cleaners to it. Otherwise it boils water fast and we have had our since Oct.
Has been a trusted companion for YEARS I've had this electric kettle for nearly 15 years. I don't even know if mine has an autoshutoff but it has faithfully heated my water quickly without issues for longer than expected of most appliances out there. The only annoying feature is the cord is attached to the kettle but when mine was purchased every kettle was that way. As for cleaning it you just heat a vinegar/water solution in it.
Does not last I have had this item for over a year now and it started leaking from the bottom. The warranty is 1 year so I am out of luck. I took it apart to see where the leak was and the bottom is just a aluminium plate that fits onto the plastic pot or top. The bottom plate was corroded in several places and one spot was all the way through which caused the leak. I did use it everyday several times usually. My water is very good here with no mineral deposits so I am a dissapointed.
It served me well! I have had this tea kettle for over 10 years. I have used it daily the past two years to make tea and coffee just heating up water. I like the compact size which was great for storage and use for a single person serving. It finally died last week. I bought a replacement different brand which reeked of plastic. I really don't want that in my water so I opted for a full stainless steel one this time. I do not recall having that plasticy smell with my Westbend though. I like that the cord is attached it is small functional whistles frees up other appliances and no on/off switch. I would recommend this product. It's ideal for dorm rooms offices small kitchens etc.
Very good water heater This pot was the best one that I have had because it was easy to use and clean.
It does the job I have a TFal Vitesse that I use at the office and I love it. The top opens up the entire kettle and it boils water in less than a minute. I bought the West Bend to use at home. I chose it because it is smaller and less expensive than the TFal. There are 2 drawbacks that were unanticipated and not advertised. It takes more than 2 minutes to boil a mug of water and it doesn't open up for cleaning or filling. We use filtered water so we have to get out a funnel to get the water into the kettle without spilling all over the counter. Other than that it boils the water just fineif you have the time. It's best to used distilled water so you won't get mineral buildup that you can't clean easily.
Not recommended. I am a big tea drinker and use electric kettles a lot. I've had a TFal Vitesse for five years at home and I'm very happy with it. I wanted a smaller one for the office and got this West Bend model last year. Big mistake! First it took for ever for the plastic smell to go away. Second it takes much longer than the TFal to heat water. Third it's hard to unplug it it's not cordless nor does it have an autoshut function without getting burned from the steam. Lastly it just lost a screw from the bottom and has been leaking and rusting so I'm having to throw it away although I've used it much less than the Tfal. Yes it may be cheaper than other models but don't waste your money and invest in a good quality cordless electric kettle.
