Slow pot to boil. Capacity not as listed. I loved the blue glow feature of this pot. However the pot barely held 2 quarts of water. The built in safety feature to protect from hot water spills out of the back of the lid reduced the capacity of the pot. When the pot was lifted and even slightly angled back water would pour out the bottom of the handle. The lid did not consistently open for refilling. After just six weeks of use the heating unit shorted out and began to smell like burning wiring. Amazon was great in working an exchange.

Good kettle for the price. The kettle brings water to a boil quickly and the light effects while on is a nice touch. The only thing that could make this item better is if it had the stay warm functionality of some other kettles.
Easy and fast This kettle is easy to use and so long as you follow the instructions before you use it boil several full kettles and empty before making any tea with it there is no odd taste or any complaints. Works fast great buy.
Great Pot! This is my first electric pot. Being tired of how long it takes to heat water on the stove I thought I would give it a try. With this pot you can see the water level and even watch the boiling process so that you can stop prior to the rolling boil and better controll of the temperature for coffee or tea.
Offgasses disgusting plastic odor. After a few months of using the nesco kettle it started offgassing plastic smells. I think the plastic is getting too hot. I wouldn't buy another plastic water kettle again. Even hightemperature thermoplastics aren't so great to heat/reheat water. Weird stuff in the plastic like catalysts or plasticizers can be released == cancer/health issues.Nesco still hasn't responded to my customer service request but they do have a 30day warranty period which I have passed.
Allaround Nice kettle We've been using it for 1/2 year now. Workls well we like it. Previous Krups worked for 13 years and though Nesco has some deficiencies I still gave it 5star rating.Pros 360defree rotation when on base transperent waterview quick boiling lownoise compared to other black/steel models price look and feel solid and stable not heavy balanced unlike new KrupsCons you have to fill it above MIN mark/2 cups or it won't shutoff quickly will be hot filter/screenuseless anyway may fall out when lid is open. We don't and fill through the spout.
EDITEDonly lasted 5 months After 3 months of daily use the lid became difficult to close/open. I had to jiggle the top to fill/close the kettle. Now we've had it 5 months and the top won't close at all which means the autoshutoff does not work. The kettle just boils dry. I don't know if there's a warranty but we don't have any of the packaging anyway. It was good while it lasted but I don't recommend this kettle.Original reviewIt's quiet the water boils fast haven't noticed a bad taste and it has the features I wanted 360 base at least 1.7 liter capacity and not stainless steel outside stays cool. The backlighting is pretty but I'd trade it in a heartbeat for an audible indicator I really miss hearing that it's boiled. The only real downside is that the wide stainless band on the bottom makes the whole thing much heavier than my old kettle.
Excellent tea maker As someone who lived in the teadrinking land of the Brits for years I am fussy about my cuppa. I use distilled water and would be the first to reject the appliance if there was any taint to the taste of the water.When I unwrapped the kettle the first thing I did was boil a mixture of tap water and white vinegar at least a cup of the latter. Be careful if/when you do this the mixture will literally jump out of the spout of a full kettle when it comes to a boil so make sure there's nothing like paper or flesh that can be splashed! Then I poured the vinegar mixture down the sink rinsed the kettle with tap water filled it with distilled water and boiled a faultless cup of tea.The kettle is welldesigned so that water neither dribbles short of the cup nor leaps past it when pouring and the balance is good when grasping the handle from well down the side.The blue light is hoopy too.
Good Cordless Kettle I'm very happy with this kettle. It has a large capacity is cordless and has a blue translucent window that makes it easy to see when the water is boiling. It also has a light in the base that creates a cool visual effect through the translucent blue plastic while the kettle is heating up.My only complaint is the boiling time but that is caused more by the low AC voltage in the USA 120V compared with other countries UK is 230V so I can't fault the tea kettle.I've seen others complain of a plastic aftertaste or odor with this kettle but that's not something I've experienced. I ran 23 kettles full of water through it when I first got it per the instructions and I haven't noticed any plastic taste/odor since.
